Sunday, December 1, 5:00–7:30 pm Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, PDX
Bring your heart and voice, and a tasty dish, and join us.
All are welcome. The venue is fully accessible. Masks are not required but are available.
Living Earth’s veg/vegan potlucks always mean great food, friendly folks, and thoughtful conversation. Bring a dish to share for 4 to 6 folks if you can, or a dessert, a few flowers, — or just yourself! Together, we sow seeds of community, compassion, and creative resilience.
After supper, we’ll gather in a talking circle, to reflect on our feelings, here and now, in the world as it is, in light of the timeless Buddhist principles for peace (see below*). We’ll listen quietly as each person speaks a few minutes their truth — joy, sorrow, hope, confusion, whatever it is — as to how they are in the world, here and now. We’ll take a few breaths and reflect on resilience, balance, and the jewel of community.
As we make our through these late days of fall, sharing a hearty meal with kind folks reminds us of our humanity, refreshes our intentions, and enhances our creative capacity to respond to whatever life presents.
Monthly Sunday Evening Potlucks are scheduled between September and February—dates will be announced soon. With after-dinner discussion themes and possibly guest speakers, we’ll explore the times through lenses of courage, compassion, a sprinkling of humor, and the principles of engaged spirituality that are fundamental to Living Earth’s programs.
The Potluck is free to all, but we welcome you to drop $5 or $10, or $20 in the basket to help keep these gatherings going. All are welcome and no one is keeping track, so come no matter how your budget is at the moment. Your interest, presence, and participation are the best contributions.
Support for Living Earth is tax-deductible per our 501(c)(3) nonprofit social-benefit status, whether you contribute online, or at an event. It’s easy and secure. Helpful info is on our donation page. Our IRS nonprofit ID number is #93-1331068.
