Open Door Dharma Circle
Living Earth 2nd Sunday Gatherings
Sunday, February 11, 3:00–5:00 pm
Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Room 12
Open Door Dharma circles offer an opportunity to settle quietly with others in community to chant, reflect, share, and connect. The gatherings are influenced by teachings from Sanatana dharma, Buddhism, Abrahamaic traditions, and the mystic poets and teachers from many paths.
Come on in , the door is open. Join us for the whole afternoon (see the outline below), or come and go however feels right for you, for chanting and sitting, light food and conversation. Donations are appreciated either online or in the basket but are not required. Questions? Please contact us.
The Open Door Afternoon
3:00–4:15 We settle quietly with chanting, simple sitting, and dharma reflection, turning our attention to the field of the heart.
4:15–4:30 A tea break and sweet & savory nibbles are on hand. Holding the intention of open awareness, we’ll stretch and move as we refill our cups and small plates. Feel free to bring something to share. (Little “finger foods” are best, as the circles are small and there’s no kitchen access.)
4:30–5:30 Back in the circle, we shift to lightly framed reflections and conversation related to dharma teachings and the relationship between spacious awareness and compassionate action to heal the world, the seva intention of bodhisattvas’ contemplative practice. Softening our opinions, we listen and share with kindness, honesty, curiosity, humor, love, and respect.
