Autumn Reflections Dharma Circle
A Second Sunday Open Door Gathering
November 12, 3:00 to 5:30 PM
Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Room 12
As autumn deepens and light fades, we’ll honor the inescapable truth of impermanence with open hearts, compassion, and gratitude.
All are welcome to Open Door Dharma gatherings.
The Afternoon
Our November 12 gathering will bring to mind previous generations, family relations, and all that is yet to come beyond the time we live in. Feel free to bring photos, flowers, or items to represent your background, roots, culture, and family.
From 3:00-4:00, we’ll settle in with chanting, quiet sitting, and dharma reflection to brush away the day’s distractions and turn our attention to deeper awareness of the heart.
Then we’ll break briefly to get a bit of food and shift toward a lightly shaped conversation.
From 4:15–5:30, we can reflect on loved ones past and living who have contributed to our becoming who we are, and the myriad flavors and colors they offered that have brought us this far. Rooted in kindness and principles of compassion and wisdom, we’ll listen and share with curiosity, warmth, and respect.
Tea and sweet and savory nibbles will be on hand. You’re welcome to bring some light food to share, if you’d like. Note that there is no kitchen access, so simple “finger foods” are preferable.
