Ram Dass’s impact on each person he touched was deeply personal, yet created a sense of belonging, an ineffable bond with others. Over time, we feel like a far-flung family, a beloved clan that’s dear in inexplicable ways.
News that Ram Dass died on Dec. 22 has spread like the wind, buffeting and affecting each of us in different ways. Whatever our personal experience and whoever and wherever we were when his path crossed ours, we share a sense that Ram Dass pointed us toward a profoundly different way of being, a far more spacious recognition of who we really are.
Whether you met him 50 years ago when he was with Neem Karoli Baba, or just heard him on a podcast 
for the first time last week, chances are you know that feeling. His frail and challenging body finally finished its work in December, but its absence now makes us long to affirm our connection with the “monkey clan.”
On Sunday Dec. 29, we’ll chant, breathe, and share stories until about 5:45. Then we’ll shift toward the kitchen to share dinner.
If possible, please bring a veg/vegan potluck dish (enough for 5 people will be plenty)Come early or stop by a little later after chanting, to enjoy the meal, affection, and lively conversation. And Ram Dass will be shining in our hearts.

More than five decades ago, Neem Karoli Baba – an Indian saint affectionately known as Maharajji – drew Ram Dass into his temple, along with many, many Indian and Western devotees, who stepped onto the path of devotion and service.
This path for householders has spread far and wide, opening countless hearts and deepening daily lives. Loving devotion, Buddhist wisdom, nondual insights from advaita vedanta, and practices from Abrahamic and other world traditions all flow and mingle in the river of sanatana dharma that Neem Karoli Baba embodied.
