Late Summer Dharma Circle
Sunday September 10, 3:30 to 5:30 PM
Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Room 12
In September, our focus will be impermanence and grief, and all they include—from the countless personal losses, small and large, that all humans experience, to the larger systems, societies, and assumptions, as well as the planet, that are in the process of breakdown. Open Door Dharma gatherings are open to all, whatever your path, curiosity, or experience.
The Shape of the Afternoon
From 3:30-4:30 When you arrive, pause to notice a few breaths before entering quietly. We’ll settle in with chanting, quiet meditations, and dharma reflections to lighten our sense of time and activity, finding more room for our hearts and deeper awareness. After an hour, we’ll stretch and move for a few minutes as we shift into focused conversation and connection.
From 4:30–5:30 Within that frame of heart, we’ll reflect on how we engage in this volatile time, the qualities and values we bring to our daily interactions and the larger sphere. Rooted in kindness, compassion, and principles of traditional insight and wisdom, we’ll listen and talk from a place of curiosity, warmth, and community.
Simple nibbles and tea will be on hand. If you’re inclined to bring something light to share, feel free. There is no kitchen access, so simple finger foods are preferable.
A contribution of dana is optional but welcome to help pay the space rental.
