Everyone needs to eat, right? Everyone.
No questions, no judgement — just food.
Come lend a hand on Brown Bag Day. We make 100-150 nourishing lunches (with hot homemade soup in cold weather) so that anyone we meet who is hungry has a good meal that day. Simple.
The more of us that show up to help, the more lunches we can give out that day. No experience needed, just let us know if you can come or if you have any questions.
Our Brown Bag lunches provide hearty meals to folks on the streets, rain or shine – with warmth, friendship, and respect. Every lunch makes sure that the person who gets a Brown Bag will have at least one full meal that day.
We meet at Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Portland to prepare food from 8:30–10:00 AM. Then we head out in teams to offer lunches under bridges, on street corners, and in doorways. Every lunch includes a fresh deli-style sandwich, fruit, a hardboiled egg, cookies, water, and other munchies. We have hot homemade soup in the winter months.
Can’t make it Friday? We welcome the items below, and you can drop them off between 8:30-10:00 AM, even if you can’t stay. Or contact us for more info.
