Going Home, the meditative short film with Ram Dass.
Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Portland
Doors open at 7:00 pm. Film at 7:30, tea and conversation until 9:00.
Since the 1980s, Ram Dass’s groundbreaking work with the dying has influenced end-of-life care throughout North America. Now, this beautiful, contemplative 30-minute film about Ram Dass invites us to share his reflections on this rich, late stage of his life.
From the time he first emerged into public awareness in the 1960s, Ram Dass’s explorations in the field of consciousness, of Being, have profoundly influenced an entire generation. During travels in India, where he studied Buddhist meditation, he met his beloved guru, Neem Karoli Baba, and the stories he brought home inspired thousands of people to undertake transformative spiritual journeys of their own.
After the film, we’ll enjoy chai tea and light sweet-and-savory nibbles and share our responses to the film, before closing with simple mantra chants in the bhakti tradition that is so dear to Ram Dass’s heart.
