Living Earth Open Door Dharma Circle
Monday, January 1, 3:00 to 5:30 PM
Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Room 12
All are welcome. Donations are appreciated, but not required.
Our January 1 Dharma Circle is an opportunity to settle quietly, chant, sit, and reflect deeply as the new year begins. Poetry and wisdom from Buddhist, Hindu, Abrahamic, and Earth-centered traditions flavor our dharma circles and our conversations. We’ll look at the world as it is, what we dream it can be, and what we can bring to it.
Please note that donations — dana — between Solstice and New Year’s Day will benefit our community-aid efforts for the Warm Springs community. Living Earth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and donations are tax deductible. Donate online any amount you choose to give. Contributions of new warm hats, scarves, sox, and gloves for Warm Springs folks from babies to teens, adults, and elderlies are also welcome. Info on Living Earth’s dharma roots and programs is here. Any questions? Please contact us .
Our New Year’s Afternoon
At 3:00 pm, we’ll settle for an hour or so with simple chanting, quiet sitting, and dharma reflection to kindle deeper awareness of heart and self. Then, we’ll shift gradually to break for tea and sweet and savory small snacks, then move into a lightly focused discussion.
From 4:15–5:30, a lightly shaped discussion will explore how we each envision the days, months, or seasons ahead, how we feel and how we hope to engage in the world as it unfolds. Framed through the heart, we’ll listen and share our views and intentions, listening and speaking with curiosity, kindness, honesty, and respect.
We’ll have tea and sweet & savory nibbles, but you’re welcome to bring something to share if you like. We will not have kitchen access, so simple small-dish offerings and “finger foods” are great.
Living Earth relies entirely on contributions to pay for space rental, keep our calendar active, keep the wheel turning. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. IRS # 93-1331068. Contributions made online, by check, or in person are tax deductible. For cash donations, please be sure to ask for a written receipt when donation is made.
