Open Air Meditation at Lownsdale Square
Tuesday July 17, 4:30–5:30 pm
Lownsdale Square
SW Third Ave. between SW Salmon and Main Streets, Portland
Late afternoons on alternating Tuesdays through summer offer simple opportunities for outdoor sitting meditation, in downtown Portland. We can turn our awareness to our breath and body, as we sink into the moment, allowing the world to be just as it is.
This simple practice is an antidote to the chaotic nature of these times, an opportunity to refresh our hearts and regain our balance. Everyone is welcome, all ages and inclinations. No special technique or skill is needed, no special occasion, no style or even belief is required for simple meditation.
Elevated levels of distress and tension have become common in our society. The accelerated pace and pressures we experience daily amplify the concerns, demands, desires, and responsibilities we all face. And painfully, most of us have few opportunities to simply be, to sit in stillness with our love and our sadness, our confusion and our clarity, and remember who we really are.
This is that opportunity. Whether you have a regular practice or no practice at all, please stop by and sit. Nothing special, just an easy time to sit quietly in the heart of the city, slip into the moment, and come home to your true nature.
Come when you can and stay as long as you choose.
