Four Sunday Gatherings:
Exploring the Deep Roots of Kindness
Sept. 25 thru October 16, 4–6 pm
In SE Portland: 2 meetings at Portland Insight Meditation Community, 2 at the Quaker Meeting House. See dates below.
In a world that seems to be breaking apart, practices to cultivate kindness and compassion bring stability, nourish our hearts, and build resilience. We’ll chant, sit, view video clips from Love Serve Remember’s powerful Foundations of Kindness course and share our own responses.
There is no charge, all are welcome. RSVPs are helpful, but drop-ins are fine. Simple donations are appreciated but not required.

We’ll settle in, chant a bit, sit quietly for 10 or 15 minutes, and watch teachings from Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzburg, Spring Washam, Joseph Goldstein, and Roshi Joan Halifax. These highly regarded teachers of Buddhism are some of Ram Dass’s dearest long-time friends on the dharma trail.
Raghu Marcus of Love Serve Remember will facilitate the online programs. See RamDass.org/kindness/#teacher for details and to register for their course. These afternoons will offer an opportunity to connect live with others and reflect on the teachings together.
Our gatherings will be shaped by Ram Dass’s retreats and teachings on meditation, service, and social action over more than 50 years, but will not include registration for the full content of LSR’s 4-week program.
